Author Brendan DuBois Child Porn Abuse Images Case: Details You Should Know!

Best-selling author Brendan DuBois filed a plea of not guilty Thursday to six criminal charges related to having images of child pornography. DuBois, who is 64 years old and lives in Exeter, is now held in jail without bail to prevent any other problems. A Judge is considering a request to grant bail. Following the criminal complaint, Dubois “Knowingly had around 35 visual representations of children involved in sexually explicit conduct.” Especially, “pictures of nude boys and girls who are under 18 involved in various sexual activities.”

Dubois’s case is being represented by legal practitioner Harry Starbranch of Starbranch Law in Portsmouth, who was unavailable for comment on Thursday.

DuBois went to the Exeter police on Wednesday on an arrest warrant.

Exeter Police Chief Stephan R. Poulin said police, operating jointly with the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, started the investigation in March into the crime of having child sexual abuse material in the town of Exeter. Later, the police searched and arrested DuBois with a search warrant. 

The Exeter Police Department got help from the detectives of the Internet Crime Against Children Task Force. These detectives are from the Portsmouth, Dover, Pelham, Epping, and Manchester police departments, the New Hampshire State Police, and the Massachusetts State Police.

 

In the press release, Poulin said police would have no more comment. 

 

 

Exeter police Affidavit Information Investigation Into Child Porn Abuse Images

Following the police affidavit, police got a cyber tip from the National Center for Lost and Abused Children regarding “apparent child pornography” in March.

The tip was circulated by Google and the files were uploaded to a Google Drive account by the same IP address that police later determined belonged to DuBois.

On May 7, police issued a search warrant on DuBois’ home on Juniper Ridge Road in Exeter. DuBois did not talk to investigators during the search, following the affidavit. However, his wife informed the investigators that they have private and locked Wi-Fi, and only they know the password. She also informed the police that they use separate computers.

As reported by an affidavit from Exeter police Detective Bailey Teixeira, many items were seized from the property, which included a Toshiba I terabyte hard drive and an Apple laptop, both found in DuBois’ office.

Axiom flagged more than 5,600 images on the computer as being “possible child abuse content.”

The affidavit described twenty images. Some of the images, following the affidavit, were not flagged as possible child abuse content and were among the 401,208 images stored on the hard drive.

” I calculate the age of the children mentioned above will fall between infancy to 12 years old,” stated Teixeria. 

Teixeria stated she checked DuBois’ search history, and on Jan. 27 that included news articles of people gone behind the jail on child porn charges. It also included searches like “I accidentally saved child pornography to my main Google Drive” and “How to tell if Google has reported me to the police.”

 

“After searching about saving child pornography to his Google Drive, Teixeira said that DuBois kept looking at the child porn abuse images on the hard drive mentioned earlier.
