As the Rings of Power Season 2 has premiered, there has been outrage on social media. I’m not saying this because I haven’t liked the show but people are not happy with it. I think we all have watched the legendary trilogy of The Lord of the Rings and we got hooked and mesmerized since the first time but this show has ruined all the nostalgia.
Now, don’t get me wrong but I was just as excited as anyone else when Amazon announced they were bringing this epic fantasy world into a show. But after watching this second season, I’m utterly disappointed because if we see the budget of the show then this should be considered as a disaster of a show. The makers had all the things in their hands and only then they did make this. Let’s know more about what is wrong with this show.
So stay tuned to the show.
Why the Hype Fell Flat?
If we see the progression from the first season to this one, the show has clearly lost its way. There was some hope in the first one because of the beautiful sets and impressive costumes but they just killed it. This season felt like that the makers didn’t have any clarity when they thought of making.
The story is full of chaos with no destination. And what to say about character development? It’s one of the worst of all time. You know things are bad when you start to forget who’s who. This confusion has just finished what it could have been. Even if you’re a die-hard fan, it’s tough to keep track of the plot twists and the endless subplots and the relationships that just don’t make sense.
The Visuals: A Missed Opportunity
I was too excited when I heard about the budget for this show because I was hoping for spectacular cinematography. But what have we got? The dark color grading and a helluva of VFX shots where we crave for realism but we don’t get it. Some parts are good but overall it is very upsetting. It looks cheap and doesn’t look original.
People are wondering where the budget has gone and what the hell these makers were doing. There aren’t any epic battles or some of the spine-chilling moments for which all the fans have come. Most of the action scenes are dumbed down and there isn’t anything new or exciting to watch.
Music and Sound: Good, But Not Great
The music fell down most of the time because of overusage where it wasn’t needed at all. I don’t know why they thought it would look good or fans will get hooked when they use the loud background score in the tense moments. It looks hilarious most of the time and just kills the authenticity of the scene.
The music tries to convince you that something important is going on whereas there will be nothing there. The quality of the music is decent but they have used it in the wrong places so it is the fault of the editor and director. In this kind of show, music last long an impact on the viewers but here there is nothing like that.

The Story and Characters: The Biggest Letdown
This is the main reason why this show is one the worst in history. We all know that the story is the backbone of any good show and this show clearly lacks a good story. If you start watching the show then you will find that the narrative is all over the place and you won’t be able to find anything worth watching. You will be confused all the time and won’t be able to figure out who is who and what is they doing.
If we talk about the characters then there isn’t any single reason at all to root for them. Instead, it should have been there because the story is filled with elves and dwarfs and we aren’t able to find a good reason to watch the full season because the characters are uninteresting. The characters lack deep emotions or to say that depth which is required to hook the audience.
There has come a release date for I Am Legend 2.
Dialogue: Cringeworthy at Best
I think it is better to not talk about the dialogue of this show because you’ll be disappointed like you are watching a cringe show and we are talking about this to that show which has a major budget. You will hear the character saying what no real person says in real life and the conversations feel like overdramatic and unreal. I think the writers forgot to write a natural dialogue and just threw those random words together and were hoping that they would make sense.
