Rana Mujahid is the general secretary of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF). He said that the Pakistan Hockey team needs permission from the government for confirming their participation in the Hockey World Cup in India.
He also added that Pakistan needs a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the government for the Hockey team to go to India.
Rana was quoted as saying by PTI, “Normally we have always been permitted by our government to play in major events in India in recent years despite the strained relations between the two countries. But now we have been informed to first get clearance before finalising the team and confirming participation.”
In 2016 they also tried to take part in the Junior hockey World Cup in India but could not make it because they submitted their visa late.

Pakistan Team booked their tickets to participate in the Junior Hockey World Cup after competing in Asia Cup and ended as runner up there.This Asia Cup happened in Oman.They lost there in grand finale by team India.
Pakistan is facing financial issues
The general secretary Rana Mujaid also told about the financial issues that the Pakistan Hockey team is going through. He talked about the difficulties that the Hockey team is facing because of the financial situation.He informed that PHF has cleared all the due and allowances of the team.
Rana said, “The government is supporting us and we are hopeful the Sindh government will also release our annual grant soon.”
He also mentioned that the Government has asked them for help so the team can participate in the Hockey World Cup.He also said that The National Senior Hockey Championship will take place in Karachi from December 27 to January 8.
Pakistan’s Past Wins
Pakistan won the Junior Hockey World Cup Match that happened in 1979 in Versailles, France and after that they also played in another Hockey World Cup that happened in Terrassa, Spain but they ended up there as runner up.
Pakistan took third place in matches that happened In 1982 ( Kuala Lumpur) ,1985 ( Vancouver) and 1989 ( Ipoh)
Last time Pakistan stood on eight position in a match that happened near 2023 when the championship took place in Kuala Lumpur.
