The most awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) auction is about to begin from November 24, 2024 (Yaaay!), in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia!!!

A total of 577 players have been shortlisted out of the initial 1,574 registrations. This includes:
- 367 Indian players
- 210 overseas players, including representatives from associate nations
- 318 uncapped Indian players
- 12 uncapped overseas players
What is Uncapped Player?
Traditionally, an uncapped player refers to any Indian or overseas players who have not represented their national team in any format. Though the interesting progress has happened: the governing council has changed the rule and now retired or out-of-favour Indian cricketers are also a part of the uncapped group.
According to the revised norms, an Indian player will fall under the category of uncapped if they have not played any international match or held a BCCI central contract in the last five years.
Auction Slots:
Ten teams with 204 slots will be filled by the franchises. The overseas players will retain 70 slots. The highest reserve price has been set at ₹2 crore. As many as 81 players have entered this elite category. Some top marquee players are:

Auction Rules and Regulations
The IPL governing council has made several modifications to the rules for this year’s auction:
- Right-to-Match (RTM) Card: Teams could use an RTM card to retain a player from their earlier team if they want the highest bid for the player during the auction.
- Fast-Tracked Auction: The second day of the auction would fast-track the process of reintroducing unsold players to bidding.
- Budget Constraint: Every franchise has a limited/fixed budget of INR 90 crore which dictates the spending limit during the auctioning.
