What is Anvil in Minecraft?
An anvil in Minecraft is a block made with iron blocks and iron nuggets. It plays a very important role for all players involved in the enchanting or upgrade of items and tools. You’ll be able to repair your damaged gear and rename your favorite items for customization and easy identification. All this comes at the cost of Experience Points, which you gain when killing mobs!
Things You need to Craft an Anvil?
To make an anvil, you will need to collect the following things:
- 31 Iron Ingots
- 3 Iron Blocks (crafted from 36 of the iron ingots)
- Crafting Table
How to make an anvil in Minecraft?
First, by smelting Iron Ores in a furnace, we have to make Iron Nuggets. When enough Iron Ores are obtained, we can move further towards the crafting table. We have to first make 3 Iron Blocks using the Iron Nuggets before making the anvil. After making 3 Iron Blocks, an anvil can finally be made by arranging the 3 Iron Blocks and 4 Iron Nuggets in a specific way.
The specific way is mentioned in the below Step-By-Step Guide.
Step-By-Step Guide to Make an Anvil from Scratch:
Step 1: Right-click on the Furnace
When you right-click on it, the furnace interface will pop up where you can put items to process.
Step 2: Smelt the Iron Ores
Inside the interface of the furnace, put the Iron Ores in the first box and the coal in the second box. This will smelt the ores of iron to form Iron Nuggets. Wait for some time till enough Iron Ores are smelted, that is to say that 31 Iron Ores are smelted.
Step 3: Place smelted Iron Nuggets into your Inventory
Once enough Iron Ores have been smelted, take the Iron Nuggets from the third box inside the furnace interface and place it inside your inventory.
Step 4: Right-click the Crafting table
Press the ‘esc’ key to exit from the furnace interface and right-click on the crafting table to use it.
Step 5: Making Iron Blocks
Place 3 Iron Nuggets in each box inside the crafting table interface. This will result in making 3 Iron Blocks.
While pressing ‘Left Shift’, Right-click on the Iron Block inside the result box of the crafting table. This will allow taking all three Iron Blocks in a single click. Then after taking the Iron Blocks, Place them in your inventory.
Step 6: Making Anvil
- Place the crafted Iron Blocks within the Top row of the Crafting Table interface.
- Put one Iron Nugget in the middle box of the second row of the Crafting Table interface.
- Now place the remaining Iron Nuggets in the last row of the Crafting Table interface.
Step 7: Move the Anvil into your Inventory
Left-click on the resultant anvil inside the result box of the crafting table interface and place it in your inventory.
Congratulations! You have made an anvil.
Uses of Anvil in Minecraft
Actually, anvil serves a lot of functions in the game of Minecraft, which are explained below:
Item Repairing:
The anvils let players repair their tools, weapons, or armory in Minecraft from time to time by merging them with the materials they are made with.
Item Naming:
Anvils let Minecraft players name their Minecraft items. Even the name in Nametags is supposed to be changed from Anvils.
Just set the item you would like to name on the anvil. You have a textbox above the item; edit the text to whatever name you want for that particular item.
Merging Enchantments:
Anvils let players combine their enchanted books with the items they have to make them more powerful, durable, and effective in their operations.
Merging Books:
Two magic books can be combined into one magic book with both features of the magic books.
Anvil usage cost
Using an anvil does cost in Minecraft in terms of experience points you gain when killing mobs.
What you are using the anvil for will determine how much experience points it’s going to cost; for instance, stitching two books of enchantment or stitching any tool with a high level enchantment book will require more experience points against simple tasks like stitching a low-level enchantment book with any tool.
Also while repairing an Item, it will cost you raw materials. So, for example if you want to repair your extremely damaged Diamond Pickaxe than you will need at least one diamond to repair it up to a satisfactory level.
Without enough experience points you will not be able to use the anvil.
Conclusion
Congratulations! You have now unlocked the secrets of crafting an anvil in Minecraft. After all, it’s a multifunctional tool, as one is able to repair and enchant one’s gear, rename prized possessions, and take on more ambitious projects in Minecraft through its usage. Of course, you will want to use the anvil wisely, as it’s a resource that comes at a cost.
