Which are the Fan Favorite Characters?
If we have to choose one character from the show which is the most favorite then it is likely to be impossible because all the majorly shown characters have something which has attracted us towards the show. Each character has their energy and wittiness which makes this show worth watching and we have mentioned the reason also why viewers love that character.
1. Sam Loudermilk (Ron Livingston)
See this is not a surprise that we are talking about the main lead character first. He is brutally honest and keeps an attitude where the people around him remain in fear or get shocked whenever he says something awkward. He isn’t your typical lead character who looks very good on the screen and keeps a charisma like James Bond whereas he has many flaws and cynical more often than not.
But there is another side of him where he cares about the people who are friends of him. His dry humor is quite good. He handles the challenges of life with a mix of sarcasm. He has this frustration which makes his character as one of the favorites of viewers.
Why viewers love him: His character is relatable in many ways. He’s not a perfect person and he doesn’t pretend to be. His struggles with addiction and relationships with life in general are shown with honesty and that’s refreshing.

2. Ben Burns (Will Sasso)
He is the best friend of Sam and a sober person who is also one of the fan’s favorite. He is the perfect counterbalance to Sam’s rudeness. He is a true gentleman who is trying to be patient. His character arc presents us with a scenario that we can say one thing for sure, we all wish for a friend like him who is loyal and supportive. He has a habit of always being ready with kind words which is so rare to find these days in this generation especially.
His humor is simple and often provides important relief in tense situations. He is a good person by the heart and fans love him for his genuineness.
Why viewers love him: Fans love him for his genuineness and a good-hearted person. He is the kind of guy who always tries to see the positive side of people even when they don’t deserve it and for whom everyone roots. His comic timing is also good.
3. Mugsy Bennigan (Brian Regan)
He is the character whose transformation is shown in the greatest way possible in the show. He Used to be an alcoholic person and gradually turned to sober. He builds his life over a period of time and improves his relationship with the kids. He has one of the best touchy stories in the show and fans love him for the determination he has shown.
If you will watch the show then there is a high chance that you will also connect with his struggles and his honest attempts to turn his life if we say in the math language, 180 degrees even when things go in the opposite direction.
Why viewers love him: His character can be shown as the heart of the show if we look closely. Fans love him because his story shows us that recovery is also a path to redemption if we have enough will to turn down our destiny.
4. Claire Wilkes (Anja Savcic)
She is perhaps the most complex character in the show. She came to Sam’s life as his sponsee at first but gradually their relationship grew and they came close. She is also struggling with the addiction but her determination to change her life is truly commendable. She is young but has a ton of experience in different fields which we can see in her character development. She is one of the inspiring characters of the show.
Why viewers love her: Her journey is of hope and redemption. She has this vulnerable personality despite her tough exterior and viewers can see this which makes her a character they can’t help but empathize with. Her growth throughout the show shows us her strength and fans are always rooting for her to find happiness.
5. Allison Montgomery (Laura Mennell)
Even though she just appeared in the first two seasons but her impact is quite large in the context and fans love her. She is the love interest of Sam. She just adds a different layer to his character arc which is more soft and open. She is smart and independent and doesn’t get afraid at all from the behavior of Sam. She is one of the interesting characters who has got love from the fans worldwide.
Why viewers love her: Her departure has left a noticeable gap in the show because many viewers enjoyed seeing her and Sam together. Her ability to challenge Sam while also supporting him is quite good to watch and fans often express how much they miss her presence in the later seasons.
6. Father Michael (Eric Keenleyside)
Father Michael, the priest who allows Sam to run his support group at the church, is a character who adds a lot of humor to the show. Despite being a man of faith, Father Michael is far from the stern, serious figure one might expect. Instead, he’s laid-back, a little quirky, and often caught in the crossfire of Sam’s antics.
Why viewers love him: Father Michael’s character brings a lightness to the show that balances out the more intense moments. His interactions with Sam and the group members are always entertaining, and his non-traditional approach to his role as a priest makes him a fan favorite.
What is the Future of Loudermilk?
We don’t have any confirmed details from the makers of the show. The show is good and it should get renewed for the next season but we can’t do anything if the makers have thought of not making it anymore. The cast has been released from their respective contracts which just tells us that it is nearly impossible that the fourth season will come. However, co-creator Peter Farrelly has expressed interest in continuing the show and fans are hopeful that the show will find a new home on a different network.
